Binghamton University professors promoted to ‘distinguished’ rank

Three Binghamton University faculty have been promoted to the rank of distinguished professor in their respective fields by the State University of New York Board of Trustees. Recipients of distinguished professorship are nominated for exemplifying national or international prominence in their field and garnering a respected reputation among their peers. Susan Strehle, professor of English was named a distinguished service professor, and Stephen Lisman, professor of psychology, and Anthony Preus, professor of philosophy, were named distinguished teaching professors. Sixty other professors at Binghamton have earned this distinction. The distinguished professorship designation is the one of the highest tributes conferred upon SUNY instructional faculty.

Energy challenges and solutions for business in the 21st century

“Energy Challenges and Solutions for Business in the 21st Century” will be the topic of a free training seminar presented by the Binghamton University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) from 10a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 14, at the SBDC office located at 218-222 Water Street in Binghamton. This workshop will outline the opportunities presented in adopting renewable energy and energy efficiency models of business. The seminar is open to small and medium-sized businesses, as well as industrial and commercial facilities. Participants must have less than $75,000 in annual electric bills to be eligible. The NYS SBDC will subsidize one half of the cost of the NYSERDA review for the first 100 clients of the program. This program is free and open to the public. Preregistration is required.
