To qualify for honors, students must:
Majors in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies can qualify for honors by fulfilling the following:
1. Having at least a 3.5 GPA for DAAAS courses taken through the seventh semester
(excluding courses taken Pass/Fail);
2. Submission to the department of a 10,000-15,000 word (including notes) honors
thesis. The thesis topic must be pre-approved by a DAAAS or DAAAS-affiliated
faculty advisor. Positive evaluation of the thesis by the advisor and an appropriate
reader will result in honors. Students may register for DAAAS 498/499, but these
courses will not count toward the major.
