People around the world are learning what New Yorkers have known for decades: Binghamton University is one America's premier public universities. We attract outstanding students and award-winning faculty who are partners in active discovery — we don't collect knowledge, we create it.

Rigorous Academics
- The Fiske Guide to Colleges (2010) again calls Binghamton the "premier public university in the northeast" and ranks it a "best buy."
- The University consists of six schools: Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Community and Public Affairs, the Decker School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Education, the School of Management and the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science.
- Binghamton's School of Management is rated 12th among public business schools in the nation by Bloomberg BusinessWeek, which also gave the school an A+ for job placement and an A for teaching quality.
- Our faculty includes a Pulitzer Prize winner, a National Book Award winner and numerous Fulbright, Ford and Guggenheim scholars.
- Two teams of Watson School computer science students took first-place honors in the National Federal Aviation Administration Design Competition for Universities -- one for its plan that uses geothermal heat to remove snow and ice from runways and the other for offering ways to recycle de-icing fluids.
Gorgeous Campus and Community
- The campus is spread across 930 acres on a wooded hillside above the Susquehanna River in the Binghamton suburb of Vestal.
- The University received top recognition in The Princeton Review's second annual "green rating" of colleges -- one of only 15 colleges honored.
- The on-campus Nature Preserve boasts 190 acres of protected forest and wetlands with hiking/biking/running trails and a six-acre pond.
- Downtown Binghamton offers a world-class opera company, a symphony orchestra, movie theaters, clubs, incredible restaurants, bars and professional hockey and baseball teams.
Innovative Living-Learning Facilities

- The sprawling, four-building science complex -- soon to be five as construction progresses on a new science building -- features a multiclimate greenhouse—one of the largest teaching and research facilities of its kind—divided into tropical, temperate, alpine and desert zones.
- The Innovative Technologies Complex (ITC) is home to the Bioengineering Building, which features state-of-the-art, modular laboratories and clinical research space and a start-up suite for new companies. A second building for the complex is currently under construction.
