Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence and President's Awards for Undergraduate Student Excellence

Outstanding students at Binghamton University may be nominated for two awards as recognition of their achievements: the Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence and the President's Awards for Undergraduate Student Excellence.

Graduating students -- both undergraduate and graduate -- may be nominated for the Chancellor's Award. Juniors and seniors may be nominated for the President's Award. Seniors who are nominated for the Chancellor's Award must also be nominated for the President's Award. Only one nomination package for both awards is needed for seniors.

About the Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence

The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence recognizes students for the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives which may include leadership, community service, arts, athletics and career achievement. These students may have already received recognition from campus, local, state, national or international organizations; these recognitions should be included in the nomination materials. Recipients are invited to the awards ceremony in Albany during late April to receive a medal and certificate.

Eligibility

The Chancellor's Awards honor graduating students. Only students who are graduating during the 2013-2014 academic year are eligible (i.e., Summer 2013, Fall 2013, Winter 2014, or Spring 2014 graduates). Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. Seniors who are nominated for the Chancellor's Award are automatically nominated for the President's Award. Binghamton University can nominate 9 students; recipients are selected by a committee in Albany.

Criteria for Nomination

The student will have enriched the Binghamton University community through a record of accomplishment and leadership in such areas as scholarship, student life, and community life, all of which reflect the University’s purposes and priorities. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Criteria for Selection

Not all categories will apply to all students, but a record of accomplishment across a range of activities/areas is expected. Nominators should address the relevant ones in their letter of nomination. Students will be judged on overall accomplishment.
