About 5 days after we receive your application, you will receive from Binghamton University a B-Number and User ID via email. Once you receive your B-Number and User ID, activate your password. You must do this before you can successfully complete the rest of your application.
Obtain a copy of your unofficial high school transcript from your school counselor. Then create your student record online through STARS (Self-Reported Testing and Academic Record).
Note: Using STARS to self report your SAT/ACT scores fulfills the test score requirement. If you enroll at Binghamton, you will be required to have your official test scores sent electronically.
Binghamton requires official scores, sent electronically by a testing agency.
- SAT Reasoning Test: Our SAT code is 2535. You must contact the College Board at www.collegeboard.org or customer service: Monday - Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., EST. Summer hours (June - August) Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., EST. Domestic - (866) 756-7346; International - (212) 713-7789; and Services for Students with Disabilities, (609) 771-7137. There is no need to have your scores "rushed" via paper to Binghamton. We only accept scores electronically.
- ACT with Writing scores: Our ACT code is 2956. You must contact the ACT at www.act.org or customer service: (319) 337-1000.
Submit one (1) required Teacher/Counselor Recommendation; counselor recommendation is preferred. There are several ways for your recommender to submit:
- Online via The Common Application
- Binghamton's Teacher/Counselor Recommendation
- Use their own form/letter and mail to Binghamton University.
Regularly check the status of your application. You will need your User ID and password.
Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students may be requested to complete and submit additional academic and financial application materials.
Special Talent Review is optional for freshman applicants. If your talent is in music, art, theater, dance or speech and debate, we invite you to showcase that talent as part of your application to Binghamton University, regardless of the major you plan to study.

We welcome applications from home-schooled students. Regardless of program of interest, home-schooled applicants must submit additional materials:
- A letter from the Superintendent of the school district in which the student resides attesting to the student's completion of a program of home instruction that is the substantial equivalent of a four-year high school course of instruction; OR High School Equivalency Diploma; a passing score on the general comprehensive examination for the state high school equivalency diploma, (GED) and the diploma itself (when available).
- An Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) or Portfolio of the student's work.

Be sure to complete the 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you would like to be considered for federal and/or New York State financial aid. You can apply online starting January 1, 2012, and Binghamton's recommended filing date is February 1, 2012. You can still apply for financial aid after this date, but be aware that funding for institutional need-based financial aid is limited, and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
All admitted students who have a FAFSA on file (and sent to Binghamton University) will receive a financial aid award notification via email from Financial Aid Services in November 2011 (for spring 2012 admission) and March 2012 (for fall 2012 admission).
