Binghamton University joins other schools – including Stony Brook University
and Rutgers University – that are strongly encouraging or requiring freshman
applicants to self-report their high school records online using STARS (Self-
Reported Testing and Academic Record System).
We encourage students and school counselors to go green by using STARS.
We will all benefit by saving paper, trees, labor, postage and even energy
costs!
If you are accepted to Binghamton and then ENROLL, you will be required to send us an official, final transcript from your high school that will be verified against the transcript you submitted via STARS. Binghamton reserves the right to rescind our offer of admission if misrepresentations occur.
If your high school counselor already submitted your official paper or electronic transcript, the submission will fulfill the "STARS Transcript/Official High School Transcript" requirement noted when you check the status of your application.
Students: Submit your transcript via STARS by following these steps:
1. See how it works here.
2. Obtain a copy of your unofficial high school transcript from guidance office.
3. Go to http://www.selfreportedtranscripts.com/for_students.html and refer to your unofficial transcript to complete the STARS form, entering all information such as class rank (if calculated), grade point average, coursework and grades, exactly as they appear on the transcript. Binghamton University reserves the right to rescind our offer of admission if misrepresentations occur.
4. Using your Binghamton University B-Number (provided in the application acknowledgement sent by Binghamton University via email, and if U.S. address also via letter), submit your STARS record to Binghamton University.
5. If you have any questions about how to enter information from your transcript or have technical difficulties, contact STARS directly for assistance.
Guidance staff should:
1. See how it works here.
2. Provide each of your students with a copy of their unofficial high school transcript to use as a reference when completing their STARS submissions.
3. Save paper, postage, labor and time! Please don't send an interim transcript to Binghamton University. Send an official, final transcript for only enrolling students at the conclusion of their senior year showing all courses and grades from grades 9 through 12, as well as date of graduation, by July 15, to:
Binghamton University
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
PO Box 6001
Binghamton, NY 13902-6001
Binghamton University will:
Send each student immediate electronic confirmation that his/her STARS was received and posted to Counselors' Tracking Center.
If a student does not receive this confirmation, Binghamton University did not receive his/her STARS record.
