It’s as easy as one, two, three (four, five, six…).
Below you’ll find separate step-by-step instructions for regular freshman admissions, transfer and international applicants.
Regular Freshman Application Process

Complete the SUNY Application or The Common Application
The Common Application is an all-inclusive application.
If you choose the SUNY Application, you must also submit:
- Binghamton's paper Supplemental Application Form
- A Teacher/Counselor Recommendation
- Mail completed forms to: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Binghamton University, PO Box 6001, Binghamton, NY 13902-6001
Step 2:
Pay the $40 non-refundable application fee.
Step 3:
Send us your official high-school transcript.
Step 4:
Have the testing agency send us your SAT or ACT scores. Binghamton’s SAT code is 2535 and its ACT code is 2956.
NOTE: Please have the College Board send us your highest SAT section scores by selecting "Highest Scores Across Test Dates" on the College Board's website. Binghamton currently reviews only critical reading and mathematics scores.
Step 5:
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The recommended filing date is February 1.
Transfer Application Process

Complete the SUNY Application or The Common Application.
Step 2:
Pay the $40 non-refundable application fee.
Step 3:
Request that an official transcript from every college or educational institution you’ve attended since high school be sent directly to Admissions. You may also be asked to submit a Midterm Grade Report.
Step 4:
If you have earned less than 24 college credits at the time of application, also send your final official high-school transcript.
Step 5:
Nursing students and EOP students who apply via the SUNY Application are required to complete Binghamton's paper Supplemental Application Form.
Step 6:
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The recommended filing date is February 1. If you have already completed a FAFSA, just add Binghamton to the school list.
International Application Process - Freshmen

Complete The Common Application or SUNY Application.
The Common Application is an all-inclusive application.
If you choose the SUNY Application, you must also submit:

- A Teacher/Counselor Recommendation.
- Mail completed forms to: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Binghamton University, PO Box 6001, Binghamton, NY 13902-6001
Step 2:
Pay the $40 USD non-refundable application fee.
Step 3:
Submit an official high school or secondary-school transcript. If it’s not in English, attach a certified, translated copy of the transcript and, if necessary, an explanation of the local grading system.
Step 4:
You have a choice of submitting SAT, ACT, TOEFL or IELTS scores.
Binghamton’s SAT code is 2535 and ACT is 2956. The testing agency must send us your scores. If you have difficulty locating an official testing center in your country, contact College Board or ACT.
NOTE: Binghamton University will consider your highest section scores across all SAT test dates that you submit.
Any of the following tests and scores are acceptable:
- TOEFL minimum scores: Paper-based: 550; Computer-based: 213; Internet-based: 80
- IELTS: 6.5, with no individual bands below 5.0 (freshmen and transfers)
- SAT I Verbal (minimum score of 500)
- ACT
Step 5:
All accepted international students with J-1 or F-1 Visas are required to submit an International Student Financial Form with bank statements attached, verifying adequate funds to pay for one full year of enrollment. Financial aid is not offered to international students.

International Application Process - Transfer

Step 1:
Complete The Common Application or SUNY Application.
If you choose the SUNY Application, you must also submit:
- Binghamton's paper Supplemental Application Form (only if transferring to the Decker School of Nursing)
- Mail completed forms to: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Binghamton University, PO Box 6001, Binghamton, NY 13902-6001
Step 2:
Pay the $40 USD non-refundable application fee.
Step 3:
Submit an official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities you have attended. If it’s not in English, please attach a certified translated copy of the transcript and, if necessary, an explanation of the local grading system. You must have a B- average (2.5/4.0) or the equivalent, with suitable academic preparation for the intended major. If you have earned less than 24 college credits at the time of application, an official, final high-school transcript is required with a certified translation (if not in English).
Step 4:
If you’re a non-native English speaker, we’ll need proof of English proficiency. Any of the following tests and scores are acceptable:
- TOEFL minimum scores: Paper-based: 550; Computer-based: 213; Internet-based: 80
- IELTS: 6.5, with no individual bands below 5.0 (freshmen and transfers)
- SAT I Verbal (minimum score of 500)
- ACT
- Completion of one year of English at a U.S. college

Step 5:
