I went to college right in my backyard. As a Binghamton native, I attended Binghamton University for both my bachelor’s degree, in psychology, and master’s degree in social sciences. I enjoyed making friends through my knowledge of the area; as a local, I was often a highly-sought after resource for students searching for nearby activities or the best places to eat in town.
Although Binghamton is a residential campus, I chose to live at home. Our Off-Campus College provides services to students who do not reside in university-managed housing. It has its own student government and is currently constructing a commuter lounge in the new student union.
You don’t have to leave Binghamton to immerse yourself in the college experience while getting an excellent and affordable education. With the money I saved by attending Binghamton University, I was able to buy my first house at age 20.
