Russell Althouse

I have a confession to make. I’m a workaholic, and I’m proud of it! When I’m not out traveling and meeting prospective students, I’m supervising the students who work in the Admissions office.
Many of the student workers are people I met during my visits to high schools. I feel privileged that I get to see them through their college career journey – start to finish.
I am also proud to do my share in making sure Binghamton University continues being an inclusive community; I serve as the liaison to the Safe Zone Project, Binghamton’s support network for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (LGBT). Binghamton is also rated an LGBT-friendly campus by the Campus Climate Index.
So… you can find me at work until late in the evening, but I do know there’s more to life than your job. When I’m not here, you can find me gaming (dare call myself a gamer?) or at concerts. I’m also a big history buff. So, when I’m not at your high school busy recruiting, I’m checking out your town or city for presidential libraries or other historic sites.
I’ve always worked in higher education and I can say that Binghamton has the advantage of offering big-school opportunities with a smaller liberal arts college feel.
