Getting around
University and city buses are free to Binghamton University students (freshmen are not allowed to have cars). For complete details about free bus transportation, including route maps and schedules, visit Off Campus College (OCC).
Transfer students may purchase parking permits from the Parking Office in the Administration Building or the Information Booth on Thursday, August 27, 28, and 31 and September 1 and 2. Note: You will need your vehicle registration or a copy of it. Annual permits are $120.00 and semester are $80. For more information go to http://parking.binghamton.edu.

- University Police - fully empowered state law enforcement agency.
- Emergency Text Messaging - Sign up to get emergency alerts from the University via text message. To sign up for this free program, go to http://www.telecom.binghamton.edu/. Click on Emergency Notification to register.
- Residence hall safety --All residence hall doors are locked on a 24-hour basis, requiring key-card access.
- From midnight until 5 a.m., all gates except the main entrance to campus are closed to vehicular traffic and vehicles admitted to campus during this time must display a current University parking decal or the occupants of the vehicle must be hosted by a member of the University community.
- Let us escort you --Volunteer escort service available through the early morning hours from anywhere on campus. All you do is call 777-2393 to arrange for an escort to meet you.
- Color it blue --In case of an emergency, just look for the blue lights throughout campus. These highly-visible phones will put you in touch with the University Police immediately.
- Girl power! The University offers a three-hour, self-defense workshop so women feel confident that they can defend themselves if they need to.
