  • Once in BU BRAIN, click on "FINANCIAL AID" tab, then "ELIGIBILITY" to view "UNSATISFIED REQUIREMENTS" that may result in aid NOT being credited on your bill.

About Your
Federal Loan(s)

You must accept your loan(s) on  BU BRAIN Self Service. Then, complete the following requirements:

Federal Direct Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Student Loans

Federal Perkins Loan

About Parent
PLUS Loan

  • If parent(s) and/or stepparent(s) have been approved for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan, they must complete an electronic Master Promissory Note (eMPN)
  • Refund, if applicable, will be mailed to parent

About Your Alternative
or Private Loan(s)

  • Funds from private lender(s) are ONLY CREDITED when funds are received by Student Accounts at Binghamton University.
  • If funds were certified and appeared on your financial aid award offer, contact your lender(s) directly to determine when funds will be sent to Student Accounts.
  • Proper credit of recently forwarded funds will appear on future bill statement(s). 

 

Academic
Competitiveness Grant

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

  • ACG will appear as credit on your bill once your final high school transcript is on file and your eligibility is reviewed.
  • NOTE: Once the review process is completed, the award status will be listed as "Confirmed" on BU BRAIN. Credit will be given on your next bill.

Federal Work Study (FWS)

  • FWS funds never appear as credit on your bill.
  • If hired in a FWS position, you will earn a paycheck every two weeks from the employer.
  • To view FWS employment opportunities posted online by the University and area employers, log into eRecruiting.

Outside Scholarships

  • Private, outside scholarships are only credited when funds are received by Student Accounts at Binghamton University.

New York State
Residents Only:
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
 

  • Financial Aid Services may have included an estimated TAP award in your financial aid offer based upon your self-reported income on the FAFSA.
  • After New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (NYSHESC) verifies all information, the TAP award is confirmed and the University is notified. The amount may be different from the estimated TAP award in your financial aid offer.
  • To check that your TAP award is confirmed, go to BU BRAIN Self Service, "Financial Aid" tab, "Awards" section
  • If not confirmed, go to http://hesc.com, or call NYSHESC at 1-888-697-4372
  • Note: Binghamton University's Undergraduate TAP School Code is 0880; Graduate TAP School Code is 5450.
