Presidential search committee is named
The Presidential Search Committee, chaired by Kathryn Grant Madigan, Esq., includes 17 voting members, one non-voting SUNY representative and a campus liaison. A website has been developed to provide updates on the search process. The site also presents visitors an opportunity to provide comments and feedback.
Former dean appointed to athletics oversight post
Charles R. Westgate, former dean of the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science and Bartle professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been appointed by SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher as special adviser for academics and athletics for the SUNY system.
Council hears safety report; reported crimes decrease
The University Council’s March meeting focused on safety. James Van Voorst, vice president for administration, said tragic incidents such as the death of Richard Antoun are becoming more common nationwide, but “we need to have an open campus.”
Sonnenfeld to receive national honor
Gerald Sonnenfeld, vice president for research, will receive a national award in recognition of his work with the Minority Affairs Committee of the American Association of Immunologists, or AAI.
Entrepreneurship projects to receive funding
Three faculty projects designed to bring an entrepreneurial focus to students in a variety of disciplines will help to inaugurate the Entrepreneurship Across the Curriculum program at Binghamton.
