Highlighting alumni volunteerism
In recognition of National Volunteer Month, we salute the
efforts of all alumni who donate their time on behalf of the University. We
share some of their stories here, and invite you to become involved with your
alma mater. We hope you'll find one of our volunteer opportunities to be a
match to your talents and interests. Read in this issue of Alumni Connect about
the service of our alumni admissions and career development volunteers.
The Alumni Association welcomes help from graduates who are interested in planning alumni events across the country. In addition, we would like to hear from alumni willing to help build regional networks. To find out more, contact Dan Polhamus, associate director of alumni relations.
The Alumni Association Board of Directors is a group of 21 volunteers that sets policy for the association - a group that now boasts more than 100,000 members. If you would like to nominate a fellow graduate or yourself for the board, fill out a brief online form. Nominations are due by Dec. 31 for a two-year term of service that would begin July 1, 2011. We strongly encourage alumni to join the Think Tank - Binghamton University's growing advocacy network. To secure state support that will fuel continued growth and success at the University, we need to make our voices heard in Albany. Think Tank members write letters to state lawmakers, urging them to support measures that provide funding to the University. Find out more and join the Think Tank today.
