Recruit Binghamton students for jobs, internships

In just a few weeks, a new academic year will begin at Binghamton University. Thousands of students will return to campus to hit the books and start working on what they hope will be successful job and internship searches. As a Binghamton graduate, you are in a position to help these talented young men and women.
One way to do that is participating in the Job and Internship Fair from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, on campus at the Events Center. Held annually and sponsored by the University's Career Development Center (CDC) -- the Job and Internship Fair will enable your organization to connect with a motivated and diverse student population to discuss full-time, internship and co-op opportunities. About 1,500 students, representing all majors and class years, participated in last spring's fair.
You can find out more about the event and register online by visiting CDC's eRecruiting site. The final registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 9. If you have questions, call CDC at 607-777-4898.
If you'd like to plan an upstate New York recruiting swing, Ithaca College is planning its job fair for Monday, Sept. 12, and Cornell University will have its career fair on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 13 and 14. These events immediately precede Binghamton's career fair.
In addition to job fairs, there are other ways alumni can help students in their job and internship searches:
- Forward job or internship listings to cdcjobs@binghamton.edu to be posted on eRecruiting.
- CDC's Academic Internship program can provide the answer to employers wishing to offer credit-bearing internships; forward listings to cdcint@binghamton.edu.
- Join the Alumni Career Network on the B-Connected online alumni community and be a resource for students and fellow alumni.
- Consider volunteering with Liberal Arts to Careers Externship (LACE), co-sponsored by the Alumni Association, CDC, Harpur College and Division of Student Affairs. Invite a Harpur sophomore to your workplace so he or she can observe, ask questions, get career advice and explore options. It's a great way to stay connected to Binghamton and help a fellow student.
