EOP has new director
Randall Edouard started work as director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) on March 2.  He was previously the assistant director of EOP at Stony Brook University.  Randall has a strong commitment to supporting opportunity program students, having been an HEOP student at Hofstra University on Long Island. EOP plans to have a reception at Homecoming 2009, during which alumni will have the opportunity to meet with Edouard.

 

President updates faculty on accreditation process
President Lois B. DeFleur addressed the full faculty prior to the Faculty Senate meeting earlier this week, providing updates on another record number of applications, efforts by students to remain competitive through dual majors and fast-track programs, and the Middle States accreditation process.

 

Prof. William ZieglerStudents tackle airport challenges
Associate Professor of Computer Science William Ziegler, 48 students, the Greater Binghamton Airport and local engineering company McFarland-Johnson are collaborating to develop projects that could help the aviation industry.

 

Relay for Life planned
Binghamton University students will hold a Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  The 24-hour event will take place at the on-campus Events Center, and begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 24. For more information, visit the event's website.

 

COEUSNew Coeus system to streamline grant activity
Faculty members will soon have an electronic “one-stop shop” for grant and research management.  Coeus is a software system that allows users to create and route proposals to external sponsors electronically. The system, which relies on a Web interface, will eliminate the need for paper documents and allow researchers instant access to proposals and other information. By July 1, all grant proposals must be completed using Coeus.

 

University celebrates International Women’s Day
More than 55 students, staff and faculty members gathered Friday, March 6, at Binghamton University to celebrate International Women’s Day.  Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan '82 was on hand to read a proclamation in honor of the event.
