Herbert Rosenberg '64 was featured in the March issue of SCULPTURE magazine. His work, "Dialogue with an Ancient Forest," appeared at the University of Akron's Emily Davis Gallery. Additional venues are scheduled for this year.
Roderic Wachovsky '73 wrote and directs the play Hanako Junction, which will be produced April 7-30 at the Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond St., Manhattan.
Evanne Jordan '76 wrote the children's book, Firefly Night
(Interdimensional Press, 2010), which follows the adventures of A.J.
and his sister as they set out to catch fireflies on a warm summer
evening.
Marcus Harazin '77 received the Walter M. Beattie Jr. Award from the New York State Society on Aging. This special honor recognizes a distinguished member for outstanding contributions to the goals and work of the organization. Marcus is deputy director at the New York State Office for the Aging and administers community-based programs for the elderly and their families.
Bruce Katz '85, managing director for Atlantic Trust, the private wealth management division of Invesco Ltd., has taken on an expanded role in light of record growth of approximately $1 billion in net assets under management. He will strengthen existing relationships and identify and develop new opportunities for business alliances with external firms to promote further growth. Katz also will continue to drive the business development efforts in their respective offices.
Cynthia Miller Coffel, MA '87, is the author of Thinking Themselves Free: Research on the Literacy of Teen Mothers (Peter Lang, 2010), a study of a small group of teen mothers trying to finish high school at an alternative school, and their reading and writing experiences.
The College of Community and Public Affairs presents "Binghamton Heals: Surviving The Tragedy at the American Civic Association.", a 90-minute documentary looking at the tragic events of April 3, 2009, and the aftermath through the words of survivors, the victims' families, first responders and civic leaders. The documentary is a joint production of The Art School and NewsChannel 34, produced and directed by Nancy Barno Reynolds '88, MSEd '90 and Gloria DiFulvio '88. The documentary will be shown on Saturday April 2, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Lecture Hall 6. There is no admission fee. A discussion with the producers will follow each screening.
