Join us at Homecoming 2012
By Steve Seepersaud
Is there a best buddy from your college days whom you'd like to see again? Or, is there a a group of friends you'd like to connect with from an activity, residence hall, fraternity or sorority?
Keep the relationships going at Homecoming 2012, which will take place on campus Friday-Sunday, Oct. 12-14. We'll have a number of events taking place throughout the weekend that will help you relive good times and see what's new on campus. Plus, there will be plenty of time for you to explore on your own.
We are excited to announce that College-in-the-Woods will have a reunion at Homecoming. If you lived in Colle-in-the-Woods, make plans to return in honor of CIW's 40th anniversary celebration. Plans are still coming together, but activities will include a reunion headquarters and Saturday night banquet. Visit the Homecoming website today to add your name to our attendee list.
This year, Late Nite Madness will be part of Homecoming weekend. You can see our basketball teams and spirit squads take the court at the Events Center. Wear green and cheer on your Bearcats! To kick off Homecoming weekend, we will have an alumni reception in the TAU Bearcat Room at the Events Center immediately before Late Nite Madness.
If you're a School of Management graduate, consider taking part in the school's annual mentoring and networking event on Saturday morning in the University Union. It will be a great opportunity to provide guidance to a current SOM student and truly make a difference. Contact Laurie Norell, director of development for SOM, if you are interested in participating.
Once again, the signature event of Homecoming will be the Saturday afternoon tailgate party in the Events Center parking lot. Bring your grills and food to this outdoor barbecue. Each year, Tailgate attracts hundreds of alumni, faculty, staff, students and members of the local community.
At Tailgate, stop by the Bold.Brilliant.Binghamton area. The campaign is close to the June 30 finish and on track to meet the new goal of $100 million. A big thank you goes to everyone who is making it possible. Every charitable gift, no matter the size, helps Binghamton students succeed. We are proud to have such great supporters who are investing to help shape our University, faculty and students for years to come. To make your charitable gift to the campaign, go to www.giving.binghamton.edu.
Tailgate will lead into the men's soccer game against the University of Vermont in the Bearcats Sports Complex. Our Homecoming men's soccer game usually sells out; we'll have discounted alumni tickets for sale once the registration system opens in the summer.
