More than 2,000 alumni, family members and friends attended Homecoming 2008, making the event the most popular reunion weekend to date. We want to make Homecoming 2009 even bigger and better. Save these dates: Oct. 2-4., and spread the word, encouraging your classmates to return to campus.
Last month, we held the first-ever Homecoming tailgate, which was such a big hit that we're going to do it again in 2009. Bring your grills and food for an outdoor barbecue at the Events Center that will lead into the men's soccer game. We encourage all alumni to attend the tailgate party; faculty, staff, and members of the local community are also welcome.
In addition, Homecoming 2009 will have special gatherings for the following milestone class years and special interest groups: 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1999, young alumni (2003-09) and political science majors.
Next year's reunion weekend will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dickinson Community and the 30th anniversary of the Caribbean Student Association.
We will announce more details in the next issue of Alumni Connect. Early next year, we will launch the Homecoming 2009 website.
