The process of searching for a job has changed over the last 20 years. Today, social networking and online tools can significantly help a job searcher. Author Lindsay Olson calls LinkedIn, "the most direct and powerful online tool, one that’s certainly worth the energy if you're job hunting." She provides six tips to help you on your path to gaining a job using LinkedIn.
Make extra cash with a holiday job
According to Nancy Mann Jackson of bankrate.com, "larger numbers of people are vying for holiday season positions." More companies are looking to hire help this holiday season and there is money to be made. Jackson encourages job seekers to both be adaptable in their search and to start quickly. Holiday jobs are available but will go quickly.
Job outlook for grads might pick up
Recent college graduates can rejoice - a little. According to the 2010-11 recruiting trends from Michigan State University, the job market for college graduates is about to get better. "The 4,600 employers who responded to the annual survey said they expect to hire 10 percent more bachelor's level graduates in the coming year," writes Matthew Miller.
What are the "hot" jobs
Some professions are gaining popularity because of the relative ease of finding a job in that field. "Hot" jobs include physical therapy and registered nursing, according to research done by Ryan Dearbone. Physical therapy is becoming popular because of the many different positions available. Nursing jobs can have starting compensation around $26/hour. However, in order to get into either field, education and training are musts.

Do you find yourself visiting online job board and websites while you are at work? You may be addicted to job searching. Andrew Rosen, founder of jobacle.com, a career advice blog, provides warning signs to job search addiction.
Keep upbeat on the job search when you're down in the dumps
It is easy to become depressed while conducting a long, and often fruitless job search. According to career coaches, it is imperative to appear confident and enthusiastic when reaching out to contacts and going on interviews. While it may be hard to stay upbeat, coaches believe you must "get into character" for potential employers to maintain an image of happiness.
