Be engaged - make a difference
Have you ever stopped to think about how your life would be different had you never attended Binghamton University? Perhaps Binghamton helped you get your foot in the door in an ultra-competitive career field. Maybe you met your special someone on campus and can't imagine life without him or her. Or perhaps there is a faculty member who was influential in helping you figure out what directions to pursue in life.
As you think about these life-changing experiences, you may feel the call to "give back" or "pay it forward". Your alma mater needs you as a volunteer. The Alumni Association can help you become more closely engaged in the life of the University.
The volunteer opportunities available are countless; in fact, you may find more than one that matches your talents and interests. If you'd like to share career advice with current students and fellow alumni, consider serving as a career development volunteer. If you enjoy sharing your passion for your Binghamton University experience with others, you could be a great alumni admissions volunteer. You can also help by planning alumni reunions and events, working with students at the health and counseling centers, or volunteering at the Anderson Center or Art Museum. Being engaged doesn't have to require a lot of time, just a genuine love for our University. We're confident you'll find the experience rewarding!
If you'd like to help shape the future of the Alumni Association, nominate a fellow graduate – or yourself – for the board of directors, a 21-member, all-volunteer board that works with Alumni Relations staff members on key functions including programming, communications and outreach to students and young alumni. Submit your nomination online by Dec. 31.
