Vincent Scarsella '76 published a guide for consumers of legal services, Lawyers Gone Bad: How to Get Even With A Lawyer Who's A Lying, Cheating, Thieving, Disloyal, Dishonest, Procrastinating, Neglectful, Abusive, or Otherwise Unethical Scoundrel, available for Kindle and Nook devices. The guide is based upon his experience as head of the Attorney Grievance Committee in Buffalo, N.Y.
Alison Lazarus '79 was named as adjunct faculty at New York University in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. She is teaching Book Distribution, Merchandising and Sales in their Master of Science in Publishing program.
Six friends from Seneca Hall recently flew to Denver for a weekend reunion. Stephanie Adler Greenstein '79 of Minn., Lynn Lesser Nutis of N.J., Anneliese Kniffin-Savchak of N.Y., Ruth Katz of Va., Heidi Laska Butcher of Calif., and Michelle Kleinman Reiff of Colo., all '80, spent the weekend at Kleinman Reiff's house. It had been 25 years since all six friends, who met in Seneca Hall in 1976, were together.
Thomas DePaola '90 is principal of Carle Place Middle and High School on Long Island. He had previously served as vice principal at Long Beach High School, and as a biology and chemistry teacher at Farmingdale High School. He was also a union officer.
John Doolan '93 was appointed clinical assistant professor of podiatry in the department of surgery at Weill Cornell Medical Center, and joined the Program for Advanced Limb Preservation.
Karen Maldonado '96 is the former principal for New York City's International School for Liberal Arts and is a student in the first cohort of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education's Doctor of Education Leadership Program. She has begun a year-long residency working with Washington D.C. Public Schools.
The Tau Alpha Upsilon Alumni Society held its 10th Annual TAU Golf Challenge at Hamlet Wind Watch Golf Club in Hauppauge, N.Y., on July 19. Many brothers arrived by mid-morning for an early bagel and lox at the home of Larry Hollander '78. Close to 40 TAU alumni -- with some active brothers -- participated in the actual golf outing, and a few others also attended the dinner reception. Hollander won the event for the second year in a row, and took home the TAU Bowl of Sportsmanship (lowest net score). Marty Dvorkin '75 was the net runner-up. The low gross score of the day was shot by David Ramos '87, with the second-place finish going to Brian Schechter '87. The Team Net trophy went to the foursome of John Walker '78, Hollander, Elliot Weiss '77 and Dan Polhamus '00. Closest-to-the-pin winners were Paul Starick '91 and Brett Fiden '88, with Dvorkin having the longest drive of the day. TAU brothers donated close to $1,500 for the Terrence "Tex" Haran Memorial TAU Scholarship Fund, bringing the principal total to well more than $30,000.
