See friends at Homecoming 2011 - register now!
By Steve Seepersaud
We look forward to welcoming you back to campus Friday-Sunday, Sept. 23-25. Despite the tremendous flooding that has struck the Southern Tier, Homecoming 2011 is still a go, and the weekend will be a great time to see friends, check out what's new on campus, and celebrate your Binghamton spirit with fellow alumni and current students.
We may need to relocate some Homecoming events to new locations, so we encourage you to visit the Homecoming website regularly to see the latest event information as we get closer to Friday, Sept. 23.
Many Binghamton area hotels are at or near capacity, and some have been affected by the flooding. If you have already made a reservation for Homecoming weekend, we strongly encourage you to call the hotel to confirm. If you have not made a reservation, we encourage you to do so today.
We know that many of you like to visit off-campus locations you remember so fondly. Please keep in mind that many establishments were severely impacted by flooding. If there is a restaurant or store that you look forward to visiting, you may want to call ahead to make sure it's open. While the community is recovering, now more than ever, local businesses will greatly appreciate your patronage. This may be a great opportunity to visit new restaurants and shops in our area, as well as your long-time favorites.
If you'd like to help the Binghamton flood relief effort, the United Way of Broome County would welcome your support.
Be sure to register online for Homecoming activities, if you haven't already done so. The deadline is Friday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. The big weekend is almost here - we can't wait to see you!
