"Become addicted to learning," 78-year-old Vestal resident, Kishen Kapur, said. "Learning is what makes the difference in life." Kapur is following his own advice. Admissions

Our alumni can play a significant role in attracting bright, talented young men and women to our community of scholars at Binghamton University. Those who have experienced what Binghamton has to offer can make a critical impact by counseling prospective students and parents about their choices in higher education.

More than 1,200 volunteers across the country and abroad support Binghamton's recruiting activities. We hope you'll become an ambassador for your alma mater.

Each year, the Admissions Office is invited to hundreds of high schools for college fairs, at which students and families gather information from dozens of schools.  We provide you with a volunteer guide and recruitment materials.  All you need to do is share this material as well as your thoughts and positive Binghamton experiences to encourage students to visit campus and apply.

We need alumni volunteers in selected geographic regions to provide alumni interviews or personalized outreach to prospective students by mail or telephone.

Admissions staff members and alumni often talk to families about Binghamton at informal settings.  Several alumni have sponsored and hosted events in their homes, places of business or at local restaurants.  As a sponsor, you can personalize these events in many ways.

We would welcome you to return to your alma mater to speak at an open house program in the spring and fall.

You may have an innovative idea or approach that could work in your area.  We welcome your new ideas and would like to help turn them into reality.

If you'd like to participate in any of the activities above, please e-mail us. Be sure to tell us your name, class year, major and how you wish to be involved. We look forward to hearing from you.  See how alumni are helping recruit new students.
