Certificate in Art History

The Certificate in Art History is the equivalent of a degree minor. Those declaring a minor must have completed a minimum of 60 credits of coursework, before they can declare.

Certificate Degree Requirements

The Certificate in Art History consists of 24 credit hours, distributed as follows:

Lower level - two from 101, 102, 103 or 104 8
Intermediate level -- 200 and above; 12 course credits in total, no more than 4 credits at the 200 level and no more than 4 credits may be an Independent Study (ARTH 397) 12
Any 400-level seminar 4
TOTAL 24 credits

N.B. Two-credit courses may be counted towards the required credit hours.

Transfer credits toward the Certificate in Art History must be reviewed by the department. For the Certificate program, a maximum of 8 credits at the 100 and 200 levels will be accepted, with all other credits being completed through the department's course offerings. A P/F grade option may be elected for only one Art History course. This course may not include the 400-level seminar. Courses passed with grade of D do not fulfill requirements for the Certificate.
