With a reputation for excellence and faculty who are nationally renowned in their fields, Binghamton University’s Biological Sciences Department provides students with a comprehensive education in biology, and the opportunity to explore many other related sciences. We foster the development of future scientists, teachers and scholars and prepare them for a diverse array of careers or for advanced studies.
Our graduates have the flexibility to explore interdisciplinary study, tailor their education to their interests and collaborate with faculty and other students on research. We provide professional development opportunities that help our students succeed after they leave the University.
Undergraduate Degrees
Our Undergraduate Program offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, as well as a Minor in Biology.
Students who are interested in cross-disciplinary study can also earn degrees in conjunction with other departments.
Graduate Degrees
- Our graduate program offers the Master of Arts (non-thesis) and Master of Science (research thesis) degrees, as well as the PhD and Certificates in Advanced Biological Studies, College Teaching or Biotechnology. Graduate students can specialize in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (BCMB) or Ecology, Evolution and Behavior.
- Ecology, Evolution and Behavior (EEB) Binghamton University also has a unique cross-departmental evolutionary studies program called EvoS, which extends evolutionary theory beyond the biological sciences to include all human-related subjects. Students of all levels can participate in the program.
