Besides maintaining a funded research and teaching program, I'm actively involved in the Center for Integrated Watershed Studies on the Binghamton University campus, and my research is gradually becoming more concerned with the conservation of wetlands, improving water quality, maintaining biodiversity, and defending the environment. Recently, I've been an expert witness in two court cases having to do with protecting the endangered tiger salamander in wetlands in New York State . Although these activities will compromise somewhat my direct involvement in research, they will ensure that the research conducted in my laboratory is linked to contemporary issues and environmental needs. I'm also a member of the All University Personnel Committee.

I also am on the Faculty Senate and have other minor administrative responsibilities that will not impact the fulfillment of my priorities above.
