The Analytical and Diagnostics Laboratory (ADL)


The Analytical and Diagnostics Laboratory (ADL) is a state-of-the-art research facility located in the New York State Center of Excellence in Small Scale Systems Integration and Packaging (S3IP). The ADL is staffed with PhD scientists, engineers and technicians who have extensive experience in the microelectronics industry and expertise in materials science and engineering, physics, chemistry and mechanical engineering.

A complete analytical lab, accessible to both industry and academic customers, the ADL provides: materials analysis and characterization services; physical failure analysis; access to analytical and characterization instruments; expert insight and solution to industrial manufacturing and development problems; long-term collaboration with industries for product and process development; knowledge transfer and training.

The ADL features more than 55 distinct analytical instruments in one location, including: high-resolution electron microscopy and microanalysis; non-destructive testing; thermal analysis; chemical composition analysis; surface and interface analysis; crystallography and particle analysis; optical microscopy; electrical and mechanical testing; extensive sample prep capabilities; thin-film deposition and nanoscale device fabrication.
