The Binghamton University Equestrian Team is a club sport based off-campus at Itaska Show Stables; approximately a 20 minute drive from campus. Our coach, Veda Tupy has over 20 years experience competing in hunters and jumpers, and 10 years experience teaching. We are a competitive team that participates in Zone 2, Region 3 of the IHSA, one of the largest regions in the northeast. Lessons, shows, and club participation are integral to being a team member. Riders who are interested are more than welcome to come try out in the beginning of the fall semester. Interested in visiting the stables? Please contact the Coach and/or Club President to arrange a tour.

| Katie McHugh received a high-point rider award at Hartwick on Sturday. Katie won her Novice jumping class as well as her Intermediate flat class, which allowed her to acquire more points than any other rider out of the 13 competing schools. This is quite a feat for anyone, let alone a freshman competing in the IHSA for the first time. We are very proud of Katie! | |||

The Binghamton University Equestrian Team traveled to Cornell University for its second competition of the fall semester. Freshman open rider Lindsay Knott placed third over fences to start the BUET to a good start. Local freshman Katie McHugh placed 4th over fences followed by senior Samantha Zimmer who placed 5th over novice fences. Both freshman Lindsay Knott and Katie McHugh placed first in their flat classes. Senior Tasha Hayes placed third in novice flat. Advanced w/t/c rider Jackie Corely placed second on the flat. Sophomore Lauren Webb captured a first place in her beginner w/t class giving Binghamton a total of 37 points. Alena Ferrigno, Sophie Tentrop, and Jackie Gaug also showed. The 37 points put Binghamton in 4th place out of 14 schools behind Skidmore College, SUNY Morrisville, and Colgate University beating out competitive schools like Cornell University and Hartwick College. BUET will be traveling to SUNY Morrisville next weekend for a two-day show. |
