FitSpace Policies
The following rules and procedures have been developed for the safety and enjoyment of all members. Users are responsible for reading and adhering to published policies and posted signs.
Rules
- Participation is at your own risk. Participation is restricted to adults 18 years of age or older.
- FitSpace members must have a valid BU photo ID card to enter the facility. No one will be allowed into the center without their ID card, despite being a member. There is up to a 2 day delay in some ID cards becoming activated after purchase.
- Wear clean attire appropriate to your workout. Users are urged to attend to matters of personal hygiene and cleanliness, as well as the cleanliness of their workout wear. Shirts and clean athletic footwear are required at all times. No sandals (open-toed shoes), jeans (denim material) or boots are allowed.
- No crutches or open toed casts are allowed in the facility.
- Book bags, personal bags, coats or sweatshirts are NOT allowed in the facility. All items brought into the facility must stay on your person.
- Gallon jugs, smoking, smokeless tobacco, alcoholic beverages and gum are not permitted. All beverage containers MUST have a lid.
- Limit the length of your workout at a single weight station when others are waiting. Please allow others to work in between your sets. All cardiovascular equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stairmasters, Arc trainers) is limited to 30 minutes per session, per user.
- Do not drop or throw weights. Weights MUST be returned gently to the floor and/or rack where they belong. Excessive grunting or shouting is not allowed.
- Users are responsible for engaging in safe lifting and member practices.
- Wipe equipment off after use.
- Re-rack all plates, dumbbells, and attachments after each use.
- Equipment and facilities should be used for their intended purpose. Modification is prohibited.
- Please report equipment malfunction or damage to a staff member immediately. Use of broken equipment is strictly prohibited.
- Violation of rules and posted policies, property damage, solicitation, or verbal/physical abuse of employees will be investigated by the staff and/or University Police and may result minimally, in immediate loss of membership and/or judicial or criminal action.
- FitSpace, Campus Recreation and Binghamton University are not responsible for any personal items lost or stolen, including those in locked lockers or left unattended.
Cardio Equipment Reservation Procedures
Cardiovascular equipment is always in high demand. Approximately half of our equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis while the other half can be reserved up to 1 day in advance for a half-hour time slot.
- All cardiovascular equipment is limited to 30 minutes per session, per user.
- Members may NOT reserve consecutive time slots on the same type of equipment.
- Reservations can be made at the FitSpace front desk or by calling 777-2919.
