2-Year SUNY International Relations and Global Affairs Program (2012-14)
Current Binghamton University Sophomores from ANY MAJOR who are interested in global engagement are invited to apply for the JFEW-SUNY International Relations and Global Affairs Two-Year Academic Program 2012-2014. To learn more about the program attend the upcoming JFEW Information Session on Wednesday, March 28 at 4:00 PM in LNG-307.
The JFEW-SUNY International Relations and Global Affairs Program, funded by the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW), is a two-year integrated program that aims to prepare students for careers as practitioners in the field of international relations and global affairs and to create strong mentor and peer networks that will continue to support students' goals through their careers. The Two-Year Academic Program will start in September 2012 and includes:
- Scholarship assistance of up to $5,000 during the student's Junior and Senior years for a total of up to $10,000
- Facilitated networking, professional development, and mentoring opportunities
- A paid 7-week summer internship during the summer between the Junior and Senior years that includes placement in an internationally focused organization ranging from well-know international think tanks, UN organizations, to NGOs and a stipend of $3,500
As part of the summer 2013 internship there will be a three-day orientation in New York City that includes an overview of key international relations and global areas issues; site visits to prestigious international organizations; sessions by international relations experts; and preparation for the internship. A weekly distinguished speaker series will highlight key leaders in organizations working internationally. There will also be Opportunities to attend special activities at various NYC organizations such as events at the Foreign Policy Association, Council of the Americas, and Asia Society.
The deadline to apply is 4:00 pm, Friday, April 20, 2012. Please complete the JFEW-SUNY Two-Year Academic Program Application and submit with your personal statement, letters of recommendation, resume, and authorization to check financial records to the Career Development Center (CDC) South, LSG 500. Review Sites and Apply for a Fall 2012 CDC Internship (CDCI)
Log into your eRecruiting account and check out the Fall 2012 internship opportunities available through the Career Development Center's Internship (CDCI) Program. CDCI is the largest credit bearing internship program at Binghamton University. The CDCI Program partners with local, regional, national and international agencies to provide Binghamton University students with endless opportunities in experiential education. Students carrying out an internship earn 4-credits by completing 120 hours in one semester (about 10 hours per week) at their internship site, plus attending a weekly one-hour seminar class that is focused on career development.
In the fall of 2011 more than 200 students completed an internship through CDCI. Students are required to attend an information session the semester prior to interning. Information sessions for students interested in a Fall internship are taking place through Tuesday, March 27. During the information session students will learn about the application process and be provided the necessary documentation to apply. More information about the CDCI program is available on the CDC website.
Summer Internship Funding Available for Undergraduate Students!
Sponsored by Binghamton's campus food services provider, Sodexo, Inc., a newly established Sodexo Internship Fund provides the opportunity for talented undergraduate students to secure financial support while completing an unpaid summer 2012 internship. Through the Fund, chosen students will receive a stipend of up to $5,000 to complete an unpaid internship. For more information about the application process and how to apply, visit the Sodexo Internship Fund webpage. Applications will be reviewed and decisions made on a rolling basis.
