Sample Timeline: Conducting a Summer Internship Search

September:

• Draft a resume and cover letter and get them reviewed at CDC during Counselor-on-Call
• Attend the Fall Job & Internship Fair
• Participate in a mock interview
• Network with organizations

October:

• Attend career-related workshops offered through CDC
• Look through the internship resources in the Career Resource Area in the CDC
• Complete/update your eRecruiting profile and check internship postings
• Attend employer information sessions (posted on eRecruiting)
• Meet with a career counselor in CDC to discuss internship options and resources.

November/December:

• Set up informational interviews during winter break.
• Attend career-related programs offered through CDC
• Review internship postings in eRecruiting
• Attend employer information sessions (posted on eRecruiting)
• Send an application to those internship programs with early deadlines
• Begin talking to friends and family to network your way into an organization.

January/February:

• Update your resume with new information; have document reviewed in CDC.
• Attend career-related programs offered through CDC
• Prepare for and attend the Spring Job & Internship Fair
• Update your eRecruiting profile and check internship postings
• Attend employer information sessions (posted on eRecruiting)
• Conduct a mock interview if you did not do so in the Fall

March:

• Attend career-related programs offered through CDC
• Attend information session for CDC Academic Internship Program
• Apply for summer internships/interview for positions
• Write thank-you letters for ALL interviews
