The Corporation for National and Community Service has awarded Binghamton University for being an institution that reflects the values of exemplary community service and achieves meaningful outcomes in our community. “Selection to the Honor Roll is recognition from the highest levels of the federal government of an institution's commitment to service and civic engagement on the campus and in our nation.” Binghamton University’s nomination was prepared by the Center for Civic Engagement.
The CCE is now accepting nominations for their 'Profiles in Civic Engagement' spotlight series on students who are engaged in genuine civic engagement that makes a meaningful impact on the community. This is an opportunity to highlight the important work that Binghamton University students are doing in and around the region. Student profiles will be featured on our blog, 'Updates from the Field.' Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. Nominate someone by submitting his/her name and e-mail address here.

Want your photo to be recognized by the whole Binghamton community? The CCE presents the “Service Sightings” Bi-Weekly Photo Competition open to all Binghamton University students. Enter by posting a photo of you or your student group engaging in community service on the Center for Civic Engagement's Facebook wall (facebook.com/ccebinghamton) with a short caption explaining your photo. Please include your name, year, major and B-mail address in the caption. Two winners will be selected every other week based on the number of Facebook “Likes” and CCE judgement. The winning photo will be displayed and promoted both online and offline. For more info, click here.
Broome Community College (BCC) and Binghamton University will continue to bridge the digital divide that exists in our community by providing technological training to community members. With the national and local unemployment rates rising, this training will help individuals of all ages to begin or further their careers. Community partners include the George F. Dream Center, American Civic Association, and Broome County Urban League's ATTAIN Labs, among others. Find more information here.
