Project Description

The intern will assist the Curator of Collections in cataloguing historical art and artifacts owned by the museum and the Broome County Historical Society, primarily 19th and 20th century American material. Good research skills, neat handwriting, and attention to detail are important. Duties may include research or other tasks associated with upcoming exhibitions. Knowledge of American history and general computer skills are helpful but not required. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. American History, Art History, or Anthropology are helpful, but not mandatory. Mature attitude rather than specific academic status is important. Roberson Museum and Science Center is a regional museum of art and history, and a center for science and technology education serving the Susquehanna Valley region of New York and Pennsylvania. Roberson's mission is to preserve and communicate aspects of the region's cultural heritage and diversity; to explore contemporary issues of concern to the region from an interdisciplinary perspective; and to use its collections, planetarium, historic buildings, and other resources for educational and cultural programs accessible and relevant to its diverse audiences.
