Project Description

The Bridging the Digital Divide Project (BDDP) refurbishes computers on the Binghamton University Campus. Volunteers are needed to help refurbish used computers for distribution to local groups with limited information technology access (i.e. immigrants & refugees, youth living in poverty, the unemployed & the elderly). Volunteers with computer hardware/software expertise would be expected to spend at least 3 hours per week working to ready computers for the community; however, EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED. Academic credit for this service opportunity is possible (though not required) through the Computer Science department. This opportunity is also available to student groups w/computer expertise.
