A public policy expert, Ingraham brings a very strong international reputation to her position as dean of the new College of Community and Public Affairs. In addition, her excellent ties with community organization, and a keen sense of the teaching, scholarship, research and community outreach that comprise the mission of the college, ensure the University’s latest academic milestone will enhance its reputation as a premier public university.
Prior to her appointment at Binghamton, Ingraham was a distinguished professor of public administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She has received numerous honors for her teaching and research, including the John Gaus Award for Career Distinction in Public Administration and Political Science from the American Political Science Association in 2004, and the Dwight Waldo Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Profession from the American Society for Public Administration in 2001.
An accomplished academic researcher, her interests include the performance of public organizations, as well as managing and leading the people within them. Ingraham is the editor and author of several volumes on governance and co-editor of The Art of Governance: Analyzing Management and Administration through a Governance Lens.
She received her doctorate in political science/policy science from Binghamton University; she holds a master’s degree from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College.
