Binghamton University’s Center for Applied Community Research and Development and College of Community and Public Affairs will co-sponsor, with the New York State Department of State and Albany Law School’s Government Law Center, one of nine regional Shared Municipal Services Incentive Program conferences at the University Downtown Center on Thursday, Oct. 18.
The conference is organized to assist communities in understanding and applying for the almost $14 million in funding available under the state’s Shared Municipal Services Incentive (SMSI) grant program. These competitive grants are available to two or more municipalities to develop projects that will improve efficiency and result in savings through shared services, cooperative agreements, mergers, consolidations and dissolutions. Eligible municipalities include counties, towns, cities, villages, special improvement districts, fire districts, school districts and BOCES. Grants of up to $200,000
per municipality, with a 10 percent cash match, are available.
For more information or to register for the conference, contact Mike Hattery at mhattery@binghamton.edu or 777-99185, or Steve Jackson at sjackson@binghamton.edu or 607-777-9154.
