A major in Medieval Studies was first established at Binghamton University in 1977, with the support of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. A minor was added shortly thereafter. Comprehensively revised in 2007 for greater flexibility, in keeping with trends in interdisciplinary studies, the major now offers two options - the medieval track (late 4th through 15th centuries) and the early modern track (15th through eighteenth centuries). CEMERS has recently established the Bernardo Undergraduate Award for Excellent in Medieval Studies. The criteria for this award, recognizing graduating seniors, include a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher. We congratulate two of our majors who received this award in Spring 2008 Danielle McKanic-Berman (3.82) and Jerry Shriver, Jr. (4.0)
