Each spring, the faculty of the Chemistry department select outstanding undergraduate students to receive awards based on performance.  The Department is pleased to announce the recipients of the following awards for the academic year 2011-2012:

ACS Award - Jon V. Seager

American Chemical Society, Binghamton Section
$50 scholarship to an outstanding graduating senior.  Awarded at annual section “Student Awards” dinner meeting in May.


AIC Award - Welley S. Loc

American Institute of Chemists
Embossed certificate and one-year Student Associate membership in the AIC, including subscription to The Chemist, AIC’s monthly publication to the outstanding graduating senior in chemistry.


C. Max Hull Award In Undergraduate Organic Chemistry - Victoria Gornopolskaya

Chemistry Department, administered through the SUNY Binghamton Foundation
A gift certificate to a selected book store to an outstanding graduating senior with organic chemistry interests Presented at Annual Foundation Awards Ceremony.


Martin A. Paul Award In Chemistry - Kate Raiti-Palazzolo

Chemistry Department, administered through the SUNY Binghamton Foundation
A gift certificate to a selected book store to an outstanding graduating senior.  Presented at Annual Foundation Awards Ceremony.


Stanley K. Madan Award In Inorganic Chemistry - Gene M. Nolis

A gift certificate to a selected book store to a graduating senior demonstrating excellence in inorganic chemistry.  Presented at Annual Foundation Awards Ceremony.


Walter E. Kaskan Award In Physical Chemistry - Mark E. Lee

Chemistry Department, Administered through the SUNY Binghamton Foundation
Presented at Annual Foundation Awards Ceremony.


Gilbert Janauer Award For Creative Analytical Chemistry - Steven P. Schulberg

Chemistry Department
A gift certificate to a selected book store to a graduating senior demonstrating excellence in analytical chemistry.


Hypercube Scholar Award - Dominick J. Grillo

Hypercube, Inc., Chemistry Department
A copy of HyperChem software…commemorative plaque to a graduating senior who has used computational chemistry in independent research to obtain significant insights into molecular structure and function.


Dr. Nathan V. Cooper Memorial Scholarship - Raemer J. Lapid

Chemistry Department, Administered through the SUNY Binghamton Foundation
A scholarship awarded to an undergraduate student (senior, junior or sophomore) chemistry major demonstrating academic excellence and proven financial need.


ACS Analytical Chemistry Award - Ryan T. Rooney

American Chemical Society, Division of Analytical Chemistry
Honorary membership in the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry for eight months, including subscription to the journal, Analytical Chemistry (16 issues) to a junior-year student demonstrating best performance in analytical chemistry.


ACS Inorganic Chemistry Award - Bo Song

American Chemical Society, Division of Inorganic Chemistry
An award certificate and a letter of commendation from the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry including name posted on listing of the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry website to a junior-year student demonstrating excellence in inorganic chemistry based on any combination of research, coursework, or motivation/interest/dedication and to encourage further study in the field.


ACS Student Travel Award - Not Named This Year - TBA

American Chemical Society, Binghamton Section
$200 for presentation at an ACS meeting (national or regional) with preference given to first-time attendees; merit-based.
