Luiza Franco Moreira is an Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Binghamton University.  Her current research focuses on Brazilian Modernist writers and their relation the Estado Novo (a dictatorship lasting from 1937 to 1945).  She is the author of Meninos, Poetas e Héróis (Children, Poets, and Heroes, EDUSP, 2001), a study of the poetry, prose and journalism of the Brazilian Cassiano Ricardo, and the editor of an anthology of Ricardo’s poetry (Editora Global, 2003).  She has contributed articles on Brazilian Modernists to scholarly journals and anthologies, and is active as a translator and poet.
