The film and panel discussion with Tracy Lord, Psy.D and Jennifer Heavey, MSW GA will address the concepts of how youth are being sold the concept that girls and women's value lies in their beauty, sexuality and youth. Fake, Fact, or Fiction? Analyzing Popular Culture's Images of Beauty and Behavior Wednesday February 29th, 6 pm UU 120 – Free and open to the public

Presented by Randi Scheiner, PhD, Jennifer Wegmann, MS, and Jennifer Heavey, MSW GA

This program will explore the impact of cultural-and-media based messages on men and women's thinking and behavior and help guide the participant in how to navigate, survive and thrive in an increasingly media-based world.

Someday Melissa, film screening and Skype discussion with Judy Arvin and Danna Markson, LCSW Thursday, March 8th, 7 pm UU Mandela Room – Free and open to the public

This documentary film tells the true story of a young woman who had an eating disorder Judy Arvin was inspired to share by her daughter Melissa's story after reading her journal writings following her untimely death. Melissa's story is one of struggle, loss and hope. Join us for this event to learn about the dangers and warning signs of eating disorders and be inspired to be part of the solution for these crippling disorders. http://www.somedaymelissa.com/events/

Binghamton University's 6th Annual Health Fair Friday, March 23rd, 10:30 am- 2:00 pm West Gym – Free and open to the public, sponsored by Sodexo

Attendees will have the opportunity to browse vendor products, sample healthy food and drink, participate in exercise sessions, enjoy performance groups, participate in health screenings, enjoy a chair massage, and more. 

Binghamton University 3rd Annual Sprint Triathlon Saturday, April 21st, 9:00 am West Gym 

Registration information to follow Swim, Bike Run, and take on the challenge of a sprint triathlon! This event features a 400 yd swim in the West Gym Pool, followed by a 10 mile bike through the neighboring Vestal residential area and concluded with a 5k run through Binghamton University's campus. Age group and team prizes! The BU Sprint Triathlon is EAC's major fundraising event. The funds generated though this event help us to provide outstanding programming for free to the university and community at large. In our efforts to continue to work toward cultural change for the eradication of eating disorders, body image disorders and for the promotion of healthy dietary, exercise and weight management practices, please support the EAC by participating or volunteer at our events and encouraging student, faculty, staff and community participation!
