Nicole

Nicole Ramos

My name is Nicole Ramos. I am a junior majoring in Human Development. I will be graduating in May 2013 and hope to continue onto graduate school for my masters in Social Work. In the future, I would like to work with pediatric cancer patients as a social worker. At Binghamton University, I am a tour guide supervisor, scheduling over 80 tour guides for each month of tours. I am also extremely involved with Relay for Life and Colleges against Cancer. I am the survivorship chair for Relay for Life and the programs and activities executive board member for Colleges against Cancer. I have recently interned with the Nassau County Department of Social Services. Through the department I worked closely with Child Protective Services and Foster Care. I would supervise visits between biological parents and their children who have been placed with a foster family, for various reasons. In the past I have volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club and with several other Relay for Life events. I look forward to working with 20:1 because it will be an incredibly rewarding experience. It is so important that individuals learn the seriousness involving sexual assault. Educating my peers on such an important topic is very necessary and through 20:1 I know that I will learn some facts of my own. I look forward to educating my peers on an ever so present issue in our society.

Adriana Mediavilla

My name is Adriana Mediavilla, I am currently a senior at Binghamton University majoring in Chemistry. While at Binghamton University, I have been apart of many organizations that help to better not only the University but also the Binghamton Community as a whole. I am a founder and mentor of the Binghamton High School mentoring program, where we have also created a scholarship for the most improved student. I am a founding sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. I was also apart of the Charles Drew Pre-Health society and organized several food drives and fun events for low-income families.  Although, one day I hope to become a forensic scientist, I feel that it is truly my job to help better our community. Being a part of so many different organizations, I feel that I have a large network to communicate with which will help to further the success of the 20:1 program. I am extremely excited about being a part of 20:1; I feel it is extremely important to educate our community on the severity of Sexual assault and how prevalent it is today in our society.  In the future as a forensic scientist I hope to continue helping the community in all the ways I have done thus far but also by using the power of science to make the world a better place.

Erin

Erin Farley

My name is Erin Farley. I am currently a junior, double majoring in Human Development and Sociology. I love working with people and plan on pursuing a career in Student Affairs Administration. I am a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, an academic fraternity here at Binghamton.  Through this fraternity, I have had access to rewarding volunteer work such as helping out at the Special Olympics last spring. I participate in club soccer, am a member of the Student United Way, and am interning in the Office of Transfer Student Initiatives and Services.  Both on our campus and across the nation there is a great need for sexual assault awareness. Through 20:1, I hope to educate myself and my peers on issues such as sexual assault prevention and make our community a safer place.

Noah

Noah Silverman

I am Noah Silverman and I am a sophomore at Binghamton. My major is Judaic Studies but I want to go into film. I will graduate in the spring of 2014. I am the Director of Publications for Rainbow Pride Union and the Vice President for Voices Against Violence. Being in VAV correlates really well to 20:1. Hopefully I'll be able to utilize both of these ventures to promote violence awareness across campus.

Ronald

Ronald Lopez

My name is Ronald Lopez. I am a senior at Binghamton University majoring in Sociology with a minor in Spanish. I have been part of R.E.A.C.H. peer group on campus through health services, and I am also part of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc. My future plans are to get into grad school and focus on a career as guidance counselor for bilingual students. I have been part of many mentoring programs in the past and have been focusing on groups that relate to this field and still working hard to get there. 20:1 really interested me because it is a mentoring program like no other. This program focuses on alerting many student groups and organizations on the ideas of sexual prevention and reaches out to talk about sexual assault. I have worked with many mentoring program with outreach, and this program is one of the many interesting ones I have been a part of. I know this program will be very beneficial for my knowledge, and I hope to get a lot out of it this year.

Tiffany

Tiffany Bullion

I am a senior Sociology major with a LACAS minor. After graduation I plan on going to grad school for Social Work and NGO development, as well as apply for the Peace Corps. I became interested in 20:1 because I believe sexual assault, abuse and domestic violence are extremely important issues that are too often overlooked. The skills and knowledge I gain from this experience will help me incorporate sexual assault awareness into my future, whether as part of my career or as an extracurricular duty.

Mark Facchin

Mark, a native of Queens, New York, is currently a senior at Binghamton University majoring in Biology with a concentration in Cell Molecular Biology.  He has been a member of the Tau Alpha Upsilon Fraternity since the Spring of 2010, and is the current Philanthropy Chairman for this organization.  He is also working for the Intramural Sports Club where he serves as a referee for numerous sports on campus. Mark became introduced to 20:1 back in his sophomore year and as a current peer educator, he hopes to promote a change of social norms on campus as it relates to sexual assault prevention.  In his free time, Mark likes to run and train for long-distance races and triathlons.

I chose to intern for 20:1 because I would like to educate myself as well as my fellow students about Sexual Assault awareness. I hope that this will be a rewarding experience that will broaden my knowledge and make me better at communicating and helping other students in need.
