Family weekend at Binghamton University

Parent and Family Programs and Services

For many of you, the initial point of contact for learning about Binghamton University was the undergraduate admissions website. It’s a great place to start, but now that your son or daughter is enrolled at Binghamton, you want -- and need -- to know more.

How can you help your entering freshman or transfer student who is just learning the ropes? What does the parent or guardian of a sophomore need to know that one for a freshman student doesn’t? For that matter, how does college life evolve for your son or daughter – and how can you provide support as your student makes decisions and moves forward at Binghamton?

We have lots of information that will answer your questions and help you as you help your son or daughter “navigate” college life, both academically and socially. Much of the information applies to students at all levels, but some of it is targeted specifically to freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors because if your son or daughter is a freshman, you don’t need information on how to make a declaration for a degree, but if you’re the parent or guardian of a senior, you do.

Check out these links for information specific to parents of students who are freshmen or transfers, sophomores, juniors or seniors.

We'll also do our best to stay connected through regular communications including news, event information, advice on parenting a college student and information about campus programs and services. Other resources also available to you include the Family Handbook, a directory of links to campus offices and services, regular updates from the dean of students and a useful frequently asked questions from parents page. We also encourage you to sign up to receive a brief monthly e-mail message alerting you to updated information about campus life, deadlines and more.
