The return of students to the Binghamton community kicks off this year with the 19th annual University Fest, to be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, during Labor Day Weekend. The event welcomes visitors and the campus community to Binghamton University to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year.
Due to construction on campus, this year's event will take place in the East Gym parking lot.
The festival includes vendor booths, a children’s play area, poster sales, food, student organization tables, as well as music from Binghamton University radio station WHRW (90.5fm). There will also be a free book giveaway and refreshments.
University Fest is co-sponsored by the Binghamton University President’s Office, Sodexo Campus Services and WHRW. For more information, contact Jennifer Keegin at jkeegin@binghamton.edu or 607-777-2811.
Vendor information and registration forms can be found here.
Every year, University Fest requires a number of volunteers to make the event possible. This year we are expanding the dates volunteers are needed in order to set up the free book giveaway tent. Volunteers will be needed to help set up the book tent during the work day Friday, Aug. 31, and will also be needed for maintaining the book giveaway on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Book Tent Volunteer (Greeter)
The Greeters will stand at the entrance of the book tent to greet all attendees, answer all questions regarding the event and hand out optional University Fest bags. This position requires the volunteer to have a friendly, positive attitude and a willingness to help. Greeters will reinforce with attendees any policies and/or procedures that need to be communicated.
Book Tent Volunteer (Book replenishing)
Volunteers who are replenishing the books will take books out of the boxes provided and place them on the shelves or tables quickly and continuously throughout the shift. Standing, bending and lifting are required throughout this shift. Must be able to lift as much as 20 lbs in some circumstances.
Volunteer Registration Forms are available here.
