This program is open to both matriculated graduate and post master's graduate students in the Decker School of Nursing who are interested in becoming nursing faculty. The Certificate in Nursing Education requires the successful completion of four (4 credit) graduate courses in nursing education for a total of 16 credits. The following courses are required:

It is expected that students have an area of expertise in nursing from which to base their teaching. Graduate students enrolled in the Master's programs will develop knowledge and skills in Community Health, Family, or Gerontological Nursing. Post Master's students already possess an area of expertise or specialization.

In the semester in which you complete the requirements for the Nursing Educator certificate, notify Jennie Orton and provide a transcript. She will ensure that the Certificate is awarded and noted on the student's official transcript. A Certificate will then be issued.
