Reliable emergency response systems (ERS) that can prevent potentially fatal situations are crucial for efficient healthcare. The Individual who is incapacitated due to sudden injury or illness may not be able to make use of existing ERS, such as dialing 911. One possible solution is the utilization of EEG hardware to capture an individual's facial movements and thus automatically activate features on a smartphone. This project combines a commercially available wearable EEG headset with an Android smartphone to provide a hands-free approach to existing emergency response technology. The developed prototype allows a user to dial 911 and control a smartphone through facial movements.
