Emergency Notification Protocol
Closing / Canceling / Delaying
What closing/canceling/delaying classes means:
1. The Governor is the only one who can officially close the university
2. The University President has the authority to cancel or delay classes usually based upon the following:
- Minimal access to parking lots;
- Paths to buildings inaccessible (including ADA accessibility)
- State and/or county travel condition advisories / warnings / closures
- Severe weather conditions
Timeline for cancellation of classes:
1. Decision to cancel or delay classes will be made as early as possible; preferably before 6 a.m.
2. Decision is made by the President or his designee.
3. People that need to be notified of cancelled classes are:
- University Senior Staff
- All Deans
- Chief of University Police (777-2275 or 777-2393)
- Director of Physical Facilities – Operations (777-2226)
- Director of Communications and Marketing
