Your success depends on more than your academic performance. You also need the practical skills and knowledge expected of professionals. From resume writing to research ethics, BU PREP workshops help you develop as a scholar, teacher, researcher, and mentor. The variety of BU PREP workshops are designed to meet the needs of graduate students at all stages of their graduate careers—from early, to middle, to advanced.
BU PREP workshops follow the Binghamton University PREP model (adapted from a program established by Michigan State University), which revolves around four themes and competencies that are vital for every graduate student: planning, resilience, engagement, and professionalism.
Planning: Learn skills that emphasize proper planning throughout your graduate career, such as resume- and grant-writing, thinking like a professional, and creating a syllabus.
Resilience: Learn strategies to endure and thrive through BU PREP peer-mentoring and dissertation support tracks.
Engagement: Learn strategies for effective communication; networking; and active involvement in the workplace, classroom, and community.
Professionalism: Learn and maintain the highest professional standards in teaching, research, and publishing.
BU PREP workshops are free and open to all graduate students in all disciplines. All Clark Fellows and NSF-AGEP eligible students are strongly encouraged to attend these workshops.
