Message from the Campaign Chair
Committed and passionate supporters are helping to transform Binghamton University into one of the best public universities in the country. To maintain our position, though, we need to grow and strengthen this base of support. It is private giving that provides the financial margin needed — beyond the basic level received from the state — to develop truly extraordinary programs and learning opportunities for our students.
For fiscal year 2008-09, New York state cut SUNY funding by $143 million. Yet, the legislature still faces an $8 billion budget gap, which means more cuts are on the way. Now is the perfect time to launch a comprehensive gifts campaign that engages more alumni and friends, builds an even larger network of dedicated volunteers and donors — and celebrates both the accomplishments and potential of our alma mater.
Bold. Brilliant. Binghamton. The Campaign for Binghamton University is about fulfilling our promise to keep the door to the American Dream open. By focusing our private-giving efforts in one campaign, we guarantee that first-generation students, students from across the nation and around the globe, and students who believe they can change the world will continue to come to Binghamton seeking knowledge and skills to elevate their lives as well as their communities and their professions.
Those who are living the American Dream because of Binghamton University have an unprecedented opportunity to keep the dream alive for future generations and can help us extend our reach and continue our trajectory. Give of your time, your talent, and your treasure to ensure that one of the country’s premier public institutions serves society by delivering meaningful solutions and enlightened leaders.
Please, be a part of our future by generously supporting Bold. Brilliant. Binghamton. The Campaign for Binghamton University.
Sincerely,
