Giving Back – Helping Students

What’s your most beloved memory from your years at Binghamton University? The roommate who’s still your best friend? An interesting class? A memorable faculty member, or an amazing internship or fellowship? Those memories and experiences were possible in part because of support from our growing family of 95,000 alumni.
Boasting the highest alumni giving rate among the four SUNY university centers, Binghamton alumni are the University’s most loyal and consistent supporters. However, increasing this rate is important as every gift counts. Giving not only preserves the value of your degree, but also makes a difference for bright, deserving students following in your footsteps.

Financial assistance

About 80 percent of Binghamton’s students qualify for need-based financial aid and, with your support, the Binghamton University Foundation is helping to offset costs through 218 merit-based scholarships, 123 awards and 19 fellowships. Combined with internships, graduate-travel support and emergency loans, our students are provided with nearly $1.5 million in aid each year from the Binghamton University Foundation.

Exceptional faculty

Nearly 40 percent of our faculty will be eligible for retirement in the next 10 years -- and they won’t be easy to replace. Your gifts will provide the funds we need to recruit and retain dedicated and gifted scholars to continue to challenge our students and create a synergy between teaching and research.

Academic programs and initiatives

New research centers, study-abroad programs and innovative course offerings will prepare students for major world developments and an increasingly global work environment.

State-of-the-art facilities

While funding from the state pays for the construction and renovation of our buildings, we must outfit the classrooms and laboratories. State-of-the-art equipment ensures that our faculty has the tools and research necessary to provide Binghamton University students with an edge on their path to successful careers.
