A Message From the Producer/Director
The New York Philharmonic. Ballet Nacional de Cuba. Balshoi Symphony Orchestra. The Israel Philharmonic. Earth, Wind, and Fire. Chuck Mangione. The National Acrobats of China. Renowned artists from around the world open our eyes, ears and minds at Binghamton University’s Anderson Center for the Performing Arts.
Normally, residents of a city the size of Binghamton would have to travel to major metropolitan centers experience live performances by top artists like these. Thanks to Binghamton University, however, local residents and students alike can immerse themselves in world-class theater, dance and music.
Through performances from visiting companies, as well as our own theatre and music departments, the Anderson Center brings the world to the Southern Tier region. We expand our outlook; we honor diversity; we provide a venue where our students learn, practice and showcase their considerable talents.
As we plan for the University’s next comprehensive campaign, however, we must secure resources to maintain the aging Anderson Center in the face of ever-advancing technology in order to host performances and experiences that will bring in new audiences, especially the young, and to keep the performing arts alive and well in the Southern Tier.
